Once upon a time, a street kid got framed for a narcotics rap. He was sent to Seagate Prison where he signed up for a medical experiment in a desperate try to get his sentence reduced. The experiment changed him, giving him steel-hard strength and amazing strength. When he was released from prison, he decided to call himself “Luke Cage, Hero for Hire” and later “Power Man.”

He went into business with another super-hero named Iron Fist, calling their venture “Heroes for Hire.”
