VERTIGO's sexy, action-packed new monthly continues, featuring a variant cover by Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows)! Part 1 of the 3-part "The Devil You Say." After last month's tantalizing #0 issue, VERTIGO's very own "bad girl" returns for more sexy, subversive, super-spy satire! Angela St. Grace faces a horde of unusual ninjas who hold the key to an astonishing secret about her origins. Also, discover what happened to the original Girl Who Made G.O.O.D. - and meet a villain whose appearance will alter Angela's life forever. All this, plus the irrepressible Go-Go Fiasco!

When you pickup a title from DC’s Vertigo imprint you can be fairly sure that you’ll be getting a serious, occult-based multi-themed narrative with art that is heavy on symbolism and abstraction, right? Well, let’s just say this is not your father’s Vertigo.

Codename: Knockout is a fun-loving farce that evokes the superspy genre of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The protagonists are blonde bombshell, Angela St. Grace and her partner/best friend, Go-Go Fiasco, an over-the-top gay man given to reciting movie dialogue even when he is moments from death.

This title’s presence in the Vertigo stable seems mandated entirely by the characters’ frank sexuality and the plethora of derriere shots that Angela displays. Nevertheless the writing is smart and funny and the T & A art is entirely appropriate.— George Haberberger
