SCIENCE FICTION, or if you prefer, Speculative Fiction & their derivatives : SF, SCI-FI, SYFY etc. is ...an adventure, mystery or drama that must have a fundamental basis in some scientific fact.
Stories that eschew science or merely use "science" as decor or ambiance are relegated to "Science Fantasy" or Space Fantasy or simply "Fantasy"
